- 11/06/2010, Barcelona, Spain – EDV Packaging moves one step forward in sustainable packages. The French company Charles Faraud has chosen EDV Packaging’s barrier sheets as the most appropriate base material to protect their fruit compotes and dessert range of products.

The new range of compotes was launched onto the market at the beginning of April this year, under the Les desserts d’Alice Faraud, Écopotes 1.0 brand. Today, four flavours can be found on the shelves: apple, pear, apple-strawberry and apple-apricot. From the ground to the consumer’s table, the production proccess of this new fruit desserts range meets the most demanding sustainability standards: among other considerations, the fruit has been chosen fom near local agricultural lands, thus limiting the distance of transport; the marketing item has been reduced, which translates into a reduction of the final price; and, above all, any unnecessary packaging has been banished to move to EDV Packaging’s reinforced more sustainable plastic base material.

The launch of this product means, on the one hand, that Alpina try a new product category in the baby food market and, on the other hand, that Alpina Baby baby’s cereal meals give a boost to the Colombian market that, to the date, only offered powdered baby’s cereal brands that needed further preparation. Thanks to the new Alpina Baby baby’s cereal, marketed in two varieties (wheat and honey, and three cereals -rice, corn and wheat-), any baby food of the day has become an entertainment time for the kids over 7 months, and represents a time-save for adults.

A high barrier structure

EDV Packaging coextrudes and thermoforms the high barrier PP/EVOH/PP translucent structure in its production plant in Llinars del Vallès, Barcelona, Spain. Thanks to the robust EVOH layer, the cup provides maximum guarantee to long preservation of the packed product withouth refrigeration. It also ensures ample barrier to moisture and to oxygen to prevent decay and preserve taste up to 4 months after the packaging date, stored in optimal conditions. The light and UV rays damage is avoided thanks to the opacity of the base material and to the sleeve.

Total baby care

Thanks to its resistance to breakage, the 125 g package becomes a perfect substitute to classic can or glass containers. The innovative rigid cup is save and easy-to-use and, in addition, it guarantees the hygiene of the packed product thus avoiding contamination. The baby can hold the cup without adult’s need of surveillance and can play with it once the meal is finished.

The cup is hermetically thermosealed with a high-quality printed sleeve. The final presentation includes an injected reclosable lid with tamper evident closure. The product offers a new image and is eye-catching from any side of the supermarket shelves.
